The following is a list of the questions we believe you should ask and also a selection of those which have been asked.

General Questions for everyone

Q   How many times do you enrol the students for this course in a year in your academy?
A   We have quarterly intakes each year in February, April, July and October.

Q   What are the class hours and how many days per week?
A   There are 20 hours of contact time per week. The specific times will vary depending on the number of classes.

Overseas Students specific questions

Q   Can I study this course as an international student?
A   Yes. You must study as a full-time student in Australia. An international student is required to take a minimum 20 contact hours per week to study as full-time student. We suggest you get some help with your overseas student visa process from IDP Education or equivalent organisation in your capital city.

Q   Will I have to start this course from Certificate III level?
A   Yes and no. Usually the answer is you start at Certificate III and continue through to Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management. If you have some specific industry experience or study at another institution then we can review your specific requirements. If you believe you may fall into this category please contact us immediately as this process can be time consuming.

Q   What are the admission requirements? What kind of documents are needed to attach with the application form?
A   You will find an Application Form which can be downloaded from this site. You require English IELTS 5.5 equivalent or a minimum of English IELTS 5.0 with a view of studying 6 months English when you arrive in Perth before commencing your hospitality studies. You will also need your academic transcript, passport, and you will need to prove you have sufficient funds in your/family bank account to get student visa approval.

Q   I have no IELTS score at the moment. Can I get admitted without an IELTS score?
A   Refer to explanation of admission requirements above.

Q   Does AAHM help students to find hostels or other suitable accommodation?
A   AAHM can assist with private Homestay with an Australian family or Hostels/Backpackers or shared accommodation. The enrolment form has provision to request such assistance.

Q   Can I maintain my living cost at AUD$1,000 per month? Can I work while studying? Does AAHM help me find a job after enrolling?
A   The Australian government requires that you prove that you can support yourself whilst studying in Australia without the need to work. You are allowed to work for up to 20 hours a week to enable you to obtain some practical experience to complement your study. AAHM have alliances with employment agents and will assist students, but we cannot guarantee job placement. Australia has an award wage system which requires employers to pay a minimum wage usually based on age and experience. Approximate wages for beginners is between $11 to $15 per hour.

Q   Does your Academy help the overseas student obtain a student visa?
A   Yes, we assist where possible in conjunction with your International Agent. If you need to find an agent try IDP Education or contact our admissions staff with details of your location.
