1. Contract between the Applicant and Australian Academy of Hospitality Management Upon acceptance of an offer of a placement, a binding Contract is created between the Applicant and AAHM. The Applicant undertakes to observe the Conditions of Enrolment and to pay such fees and charges as may be applicable during the period of the student’s enrolment at AAHM. 2. Payment of Fees and Charges All fees and charges for International students are payable in Australian dollars prior to commencement of the course in accordance with AAHM Fee Schedule current at the date of commencement of the course. AAHM reserves the right to recover from the students or pass on any government charges, including any GST tax that may be levied on services provided by AAHM. Please note, AAHM does offer payment plans for payment of tuition fees for people who can provide financial hardship cases prior to enrolment. Generally, all fees relating to tuition are to be paid in a 3 instalment payment plan (first installment due and payable by orientation day prior to the course commencement, the remaining two installments due towards the end of the term 1 and after the commencement of term 2) for each enrolled course/semester. All financial issue must be addressed to the Admissions Manager for consideration prior to course commencement. o Tuition fees and Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) are to be paid at least four (4) weeks prior to commencement date of the course. Payment details are on the application form in this brochure. o Full payment of all outstanding tuition and accommodation fees must be received at least four weeks before the commencement of your course. On receipt of your fees, AAHM will send you an Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (ECoE) issued through Government system (PRISMS). Please provide this ECoE to an Australian Embassy in application for a student visa. o For Airport Transfer and Homestay requests please provide flight details (number, date, and arrival time) at least two weeks before you arrive in Australia.. AAHM will confirm the details with you and send full homestay arrangements. o For student visas, when selecting a commencement date please allow at least 4-6 weeks for visa processing. o Any Changes to enrolment details must be notified to AAHM in writing. o AAHM reserves the right to change its fees and conditions at any time without notice. 1. Re 3. Refund Policy All requests for a refund must be submitted in writing (with supporting documentation) to the Admissions Manager/Director, AAHM.
A notice of withdrawal due to: § Illness or disability § Death of a close family member (parent, sibling, spouse, child) § Political or civil event that prevents acquittal - may be accepted as grounds for partial refund of fees. Supporting documentary evidence must be provided.
IN ALL CASES: § Refunds of tuition and accommodation fees will be in accordance with the Western Australian Government’s Policy Guidelines for institutions providing courses to International students and Commonwealth Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000. These documents are available to students on the AAHM Website. § Refund calculations are based on the contracted course duration, which student had signed up for § The refund (if any) will be paid within four (4) weeks after receiving a written claim by the student. a) A semester is deemed to be either the duration of the course or 20 weeks, whichever is the lesser. A week is classified Monday to Friday, excluding weekend days. If notice to withdraw in writing is required, AAHM will count the Monday of that week of written notice received, as the commencement of the first week of notice of withdrawal, not necessarily the date on the letter of withdrawal. (AAHM will stamp date the letter of withdrawal as proof of date of receipt, and a copy of this stamped withdrawal letter will go to the student immediately). b) In the event that a student withdraws from a course the refund policy will apply as follows:
c) AAHM has the obligation to report to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) on any breach of the international student visa conditions.
Student/s whom is not satisfied by AAHM decision of their refund application, may utilise AAHM’s Complaints and Appeals Process. The Process does not prevent students from seeking legal action under the Australian Consumer Protection Laws.
4. Student Obligations a. The student will attend all lessons, classes, tests and examinations during the course and will abide by the rules and regulations of AAHM at all times. b. AAHM reserves the right to require the student to leave a course or course subject at any stage if the student fails, without good reason, to meet the requirements of the AAHM student code of conduct. If the student conduct is such that the continued presence would, in the opinion of AAHM, be detrimental to the satisfactory conducting of the course, students will undertake student welfare, counseling and support prior to such action. In such circumstances any refund of fees is entirely at the discretion of AAHM. 5. Transfer to other educational institutions A Transfer to another educational institution is granted only after completing six (6) months of the principal course of study. A Letter of offer must be provided from another registered provider confirming that a valid enrolment offer has been made. Once confirmed, a Letter of Release, if granted, must be issued at no cost to the student by AAHM after approval from the Academic Director. AAHM must advise the student of the need to contact DIAC to seek advice on whether a new student visa is required. 6. Medical Treatment In circumstances where a student requires urgent medical treatment and it is not possible to communicate with the parent/guardian of a student less than 18 years of age, AAHM is authorized to arrange appropriate medical treatment in accordance with the advice of qualified medical practitioners. 7. Variations AAHM may vary such conditions of enrolment as may be necessary to comply with any law or regulation or amendment thereof of the Commonwealth of Australia or the State of Western Australia. 8. Contract a. The contract between the Applicant and AAHM is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Australia and the State of Western Australia. b. “This agreement and the availability of complaints and appeals processes, does not remove the right of the sutudent to take further action under Australia's consumer protection laws.” 9. Students Information Information provided to AAHM by the student/parent may be made available to Commonwealth and State agencies and the Fund Manager of the ESOS Assurance Fund, pursuant to obligations under the ESOS Act 2000 and The National Code. 10. Dependants of International Students Dependants of international students undertaking courses at AAHM can enroll in a government or registered non-government school as long as they meet the criteria set by the Department of Education Services (DES). Depending on the school (government or non-government) and type of application (visa class of the parent and dependant) different fees and enrolment process may apply. Please refer to the DIAC website for more information. 11. Complaint and Appeals AAHM Complaint and Appeals policy can be found in the Student Handbook which is made available on the website, emailed to perspective students, provided to agents and presented to students at Orientation. 12. Guardians a. A guardian must be appointed for all International Students under 18 years of age. The Department of Immigration and Citizenship require students under the age of 18 to have a Guardian with whom they live before a student visa can be granted. AAHM can only arrange the accommodation for students who request our accommodation services. The students under the age of 18 may not remain in Australia unless they are living under their guardian’s care. Students under 18 years old are required to have a local Carer/Guardian (please below for details) b. Students enrolled in AAHM under the age of 18 years must have enrolment signed by parent or guardian. Students over 18 must provide AAHM written permission for AAHM to release there information to a parent or guardian.
13. Agent Services It is mandatory for the agents to comply with the National Code requirements in regard to marketing of AAHM courses, the recruitment and placement of international students. The agents must market the AAHM courses honestly and provide accurate information to students, and all pre enrollment information for the current year as per the agent update. Agents are monitored closely by AAHM through quality feedback from students, agents and the college. 14. Privacy Statement “Personal information about the student may be shared between the registered provider and relevant Commonwealth, State and Territory government agencies and for non-exempt providers, to the Tuition Assurance Scheme and ESOS Assurance Fund Manager. This information may include personal and contact details, course enrolment details and changes and the circumstances of any suspected breach by the student of a student visa condition” 15. Employment Students studying on a student visa who wish to gain employment must obtain a work visa which permits them to work a maximum of 20 hours per week during their course. Spouses who accompany student visa holders may be able to work under certain circumstances. 16. Health Cover It is a requirement of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) that holders of student visas should have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). For newly arrived students, this cover is arranged by AAHM as part of the admissions process. Full information, including how to claim a refund of medical expenses is provided during Orientation.
17. AAHM requires applications that are serious about their chosen career and will be dedicated to their studies and chosen industry.
