Tourism and hospitality are major growth industries and will continue to expand rapidly…“ according to Tourism Training Australia CEO, W.R. Gavin OAM. The Tourism sector of the industry deals mainly with local and overseas travel, and includes travel agencies, tourist information officers, tour wholesalers, attractions, meetings and conventions, and tour guiding. The Hospitality sector of the industry provides food, beverage & accommodation to both visitors and local residents. It includes hotels, motels, resorts, restaurants, clubs and casinos. Currently over 1.3 million people work in Tourism and Hospitality across the country. Projections indicate that up to 300,000 new jobs across Australia will be created over the next few years, heightening the need for professional and accurate training. AAHM believes this is by providing both practical and theoretical skills and developing students’ knowledge, self-confidence and self-esteem whilst providing on-going work placement assistance and career development. It is anticipated that over 5 million international tourists will visit Australia each year and this is projected to increase to 7.6 million per annum by the year 2007. As a result, the employment opportunities created throughout Australia will provide an exciting and worthwhile career, opening doors for international employment opportunities. |
